New Things Your Workout (Workin's) Can Do For YOU! Stick with it!!

Why keeping up with working out (or 'working') are your best friend for social distancing!

We’re the owners of a functional fitness boutique gym. We’re now online UGH, WE FEEL YOU.

I personally LOVE the outdoors and don’t do well working out inside. It’s tough, I want to go sit on the sofa, and often do as our members would tell you, they see me do it!  Things could be worse. Does this sound like you? I’m trying to change it up, changing my physical and emotional view. Will you bear with me for a little back story?

I could work out on my deck but then my husband doesn’t have the large tv screen to be able to watch everyone ‘live’ for proper form. I love being able to have him to workout with me but I lose that if I’m outside.  I’d sit on the sofa if I was working out inside without him, yep, I said it before and it’s so true, I don’t like admitting it, my rest includes the sofa sometimes. I could workout for hours or all day if I’m outside. So, we went running on a trail the other day, I didn’t want to stop, I get creative, my head is clear and then it hits me…. we have  to run to the grocery store. I got thinking, what a great benefit right now! I SMELL! I look pretty rough, I get exercise rosacea and I am a sweaty mess. I normally wouldn’t hit the grocery store like this. BUT BLAMMO, it came to me I’d be sweating more if I had been at home indoors since it was a cool day outside, this could really benefit us. Working out at home can be challenging, so plan your trip to the grocery store afterward! Don’t shower, go AS IS!

Here’s your WHY…

-You smell, normally YUCK but use it to your advantage-PERFECT!!! “Get away from that smelly person!” You will get those 6 feet social distancing.

-You are sweaty-“Is it a fever, is that shopper sick?” ‘Don’t go near that women, she may be sick!” SAWEET! You have their attention and home field advantage that those people at Walmart weren’t respecting, if they were going the wrong way they won’t be NOW!

But let’s get for real to and to the boring reason…

-What better way to build your immune system, keep the fluids moving in your body, flush out toxins! Working out!

-If you have ‘live’ classes even better, the laughter will help to raise your frequency. When we are thinking and feeling positive, it helps your mind and body repel negative energy.

-You eat healthier and crave healthier foods when you’re working out, giving you nutrients that you need to keep your body in good form

-You will sleep better and we all know that a rested body is a healthier body

BOTTOM LINE-stick with it. Change your scenery if you are ‘working in’ take the laptop or iPad outside! You can do some workouts inside and others if you have an online class. Kick up the cardio and get outside in between your weight lifting classes. Your workout doesn’t always need to be losing weight, our bodies have other ways to be healthy and show change. You’re body will appreciate you! We need to take care of ourselves not just for today but for our future and to set a good example. Whatever it takes to keep you motivated, write it in dry erase markers on the bathroom mirror. Post your thoughts here on how you get yourself going and what works for you. Give us feedback if you take our advice to go to the store right after a workout, let us know how it goes! I was sparked to write this today because I saw post on social media that had a different opinion. It isn’t too far off but still it spark me to think of a different way to write it.

A little about me,

I’m an Elite Brain Health Specialist Clinician , working as a Certified CranioSacral Therapist with Michael Morgan of Upledger Institute with Alzheimer's research and Menopause related brain health. I have 5 children, homeschooled two of them while I was a fire fighter in Baltimore City before suffering a career ending injury and meeting my husband. I was told to have a surgery or become a quadriplegic within 3 years and that was 20 years ago. I began doing major research on my own and have healed my scoliosis, herniated discs, concussions and more through the many disciplines that I bring to your sessions. My mission is to assist others through CranioSacral Therapy, Visceral Manipulation and other disciplines while educating others to become their own advocates, feel into their body and lifestyle and create health and lifestyle plans that work best for them and take them from “I’m exhausted & I’ve TRIED EVERYTHING” to living their best lives!
